What is Laser Resurfacing?

Throughout your lifetime, your skin goes through so much. It protects your internal organs, tissues, muscles, veins, blood vessels, among other things. The top layer of your skin is the first point of contact for so many external elements, so it is no wonder the skin can become old and tired looking so fast.

Several things make your skin age faster. These can include sun exposure, pollution, poor diet, lack of exercise, genetics, stress, smoking, and acne. Some of these are preventable, while others you just have to deal with. After your skin has put up with these elements over the years, it is a wonder it looks as good as it does.

Aging skin affects everyone at one time or another, but the good news is, we can help. Laser Resurfacing is one of the ways our office can give you the youthful skin you want.

About Us

Laser Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing and IPL, also known as Intense Pulsed Light photorejuvenation, are procedures done in the office to combat signs of aging or damaged skin. This can include wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, and acne scarring. The result of these treatments is younger and healthier-looking skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing is where a laser process improves the skin’s appearance and treats skin trauma. Resurfacing is done by directing an intense beam of light at your problem areas. This beam superheats water in the skin and causes controlled vaporization of skin cells. Collagen stimulation encourages new skin cells to develop and gives you a more youthful and healthier glow. Laser resurfacing is suitable for evening skin tone and texture.

IPL is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that can target the cells that cause pigmentation, sun damage, and redness in the skin. It is often gentler than laser treatments and is used when patients do not need extensive treatment. Several laser sessions may be required to get the desired results.

Difference Between Laser Resurfacing and IPL

Both laser resurfacing and IPL are similar in application and are often used to treat the same symptoms. Laser treatments focus only on one wavelength of light on the problem area, while IPL releases several wavelengths. IPL also does not use a laser but instead a broad spectrum of light. Laser treatments often resurface the skin, and IPL is more about rejuvenating the skin.
